The City Resilience and Infrastructure Systems Dependency Management is an ambitious effort to create effective and practicable solutions for urban infrastructure resilience planning. This multi-year effort involves several sub-projects and many industrial and governmental partners.
WeatherWise: This is the first study to distill the complexity of a city’s functions into a dependency mapping. The dependencies define the causal chains of city operation that can be analyzed against hazards to develop resiliency strategies. This project has motivated follow-up studies in community resilience, spatial mapping of dependencies, and critical resource distribution, such as food.
Dependency Mapping Software: We’re launching a 2 year study with the goal of developing a one of a kind software tool for dependency mapping in cities.
Resilience-Protection Comparison: Being carried out for the University of Toronto, this study will compare the cost to operational effectiveness of protection and resilience requirements. The study involves seasonal protection and resilience surveys of the over 130 buildings on the main St. George campus.
